“Our 972 draper has taken over most of our cutting needs. It works like a dream in most that we cut: forage, wheat, wheat straw grass, sorghum, feed cane, millet – you name it, we do it. I was skeptical working it in heavy alfalfa, but it works great. One of the 972’s big advantages for us is that its shiftable deck allows us to lay our green chop in a double windrow and avoid raking. This means that we eliminate one whole process, along with the costs of one machine and one guy. We can also really scoot with our 25 foot draper and move at about the same speed as we can with our 16 foot auger. Together, these factors have sped up our alfalfa harvesting by at least 30% and cut our costs.”
